Barabasi
2. I do not think it would be easy for this to happen again. Today, large communities are connected globally, and people, goods, and information travel among them everyday. I think Paul was able to establish his great achievement because there were not much information shared by the communities yet, and perhaps because the Jews were not able to communicate with distant communities enough to keep them satisfied and have good understanding of their beliefs. Therefore, Paul was able to persuade and have the people in such communities make understanding of the Christian message. However, now, all of the communities literally have the potential to get access to all of the information that exists. There is not much of a gap of information among the large(ecconomically strong)communities. Furthermore, each community has its own values based on its cultre or tradition, so I do not think it would not be so easy to spread one belief to many people these days.
3. How the understanding of each company in Silicon Valley turned out to help the understanding of Silicon Valley itself, or how the connections of species in ecosystems have turned to help the understanding of the effecect humans have on the environment. I would love to see how the understanding of Linear Algebra can help the understand of Psychology(as some mechanics and psychologists are working together to figure out).
4. They have revealed that eventhough each factors are quite complicated, they are surprisingly simply connected. I do find this surprising because learning small segments of things and feeling each of them are quite complicated, it is funny that they should be connected simply.
5. Barabasi mentions that most of the scientific research in the 21st century is about segmenting and trying to understand each part. The problem with this is that you get to know about the pieces, but it is quite difficult to put the pieces back together to understand as a larger piecet, and it is even more harder to understand the whole.
6. The coming era will be about integregation. I think this will become very important, especially in natural science, because I sometimes feel segmentation has gone to far. Each branch has been divided in to so many little pieces that some say that it is difficult to find more than 5 people working in some certain fields. In other words, only 5 people have good understanding in that world. This becomes a problem not only that discoveries will not have enough people to inspect if it is truely a discovery or not, but also in a sense that not enough people would be able to understand discoveries or advanes scientists have made in order to stop things from going to far. For example, cloning, embryo stem cells, are issues that highly need to be discussed by many, various groups of people, and because it is a big topic, they are. But what if some discovery, just known about, by 5 people has the power to change something int he world? Therfore, I think it is time we start connecting each segment, as segmentation goes along even further.

DO
I had learned earlier how I could tag my pages. The great thing about this is that it is like one page belongs to many files that I would make in my bookmark files. One page could have multiple tags, which makes the pages more effective for my learning. Another great thing is how I can send my pages to a friend without copying, pasting, or even opening my mail box. The most useful thing about Delicious for me is how you can search web pages using MULTIPLE tags. I can search down for just the page I need.
EXPLAIN
In order to use social bookmarking, you simply need to be able to use the Internet. The best thing about social bookmarking is how you can carry all of your bookmarks with you, anywhere you want. You could be using the Internet anywhere, surfing anywhere, and you could simply add them to your list of good websites. Even more, you could tag effectively, they will be very easy to search for you, and for anyone else. I, myself could search for a website through Delicious, which would be much more effective than using just a search engine. Being able to look for good sites using MULTIPLE tags enable us to do almost the same search on search engines. This saves my time a lot. Social bookmarking has allowed me to cope with the digital age more effectively.

Lesson 3: Blog as e-Portfolio
I would write a resume perhaps, including certificates for certain tests(TOEIC, Kanken), sport tournaments, attach a letter of recommendation by professors or teachers to show strong points of myself which cannot be tested. Another important thing would by my ID showing which division I belong to or what I are majoring in, because it may show what kind of knowledge I have.
EXPLORE
1. I think e-portfolio is a convenient way to express myself, but I do not need it yet, because I do not have the chance to show who I am and what I can do. However, in order to have a well-developed e-portfolio when I need it, I should start working on it, especially if I want to use it as a way to keep track of things.
2.lists of...
*works I have experienced
*places I have been to, and things I have seen there (e.g. museums, historical sites)
*lectures I have been to
*translating experiences I have had
*Wadaiko performances I have experienced, along with photos
*websites showing my interests
3.
Advantages
Unlike paper resumes you would traditionally turn in when you apply for a job, you can write what YOU want on your e-portfolio. You can also arrange your e-portfolio to keep your information neat, still having lots of information.
Disadvantages
E-portfolios are not very common(at least in Japan) yet, so we do not have much chances to use them yet, and your reader needs to be in an Internet-capable environment to read. Paper is said to leave more information in the brain when reading, than electronic screens do. So in this term, e-portfolios would do better printed out, which would be a disadvantage in a way.
4. In order to use my e-portfolio, the only skills you need are, the ability to use the Internet, English, and simply to type and save. My e-portfolio shows not just basic information about me, but also possibilities I have. It shows my job experience, English skills, translating experiences(volunteer and work), lists of lectures I've been to, and more. This enables people who want someone to translate for them, or people who are interested in science like I am, to look for me.
Through making my e-portfolio, I have learned more about how people give out information digitally. Therefore, I can be an active and enthusiastic learner, not just take in in information but also give out, and also an even stronger learner because I can now also use e-portfolios to connect with people more effectively.

Lesson 2: Browser as PLE
In order to enable myself to do my work during the day, I always carry my pen case, electronic dictionary, and USB memory stick. My pens and pencils enable me to take little memos that I searched on the web, that I do not want to print out, but just want to take notes about. I also use them to do calculations on results from experiments. I refer to my dictionary for translations and definitions in both English and Japanese. It is useful because when there is a word I cannot understand in English, I can simply look up translations, but also look for the meaning in Japanese if I cannot understand the translation. This is also useful because I do not have to carry heavy dictionaries, nor do I have to start up a computer. To make it so that I can work at any computer, Fire Fox Portable is very convenient. I can make it give me simple translations or definitions to words, take memos in google documents, and make it do calculations if I want to. However, I would also need to install some programs that are only in the laboratory to work on test results anywhere I want to.
EXPLORE
Looking at how people have developed their Fire Fox, I thought it was amazing that a browser could become so specialized to meet one's needs. Eric Moretti had uses icons just for links he often goes to. If you have certain pages you go to every time you are on the Internet, I thought that might be useful. However, because I often use the Internet for researching things I do not know about, I was able to see that many people use the google toolbar, and found Pasha's way of putting search toolbars on the top, and her most visited sites on the next row very neat.
EXPLAIN
1. In order to use my PLE, English is an essential skill. The add-ons are explained in English, and there are more variety of them in English. You also need a skill to allow you to search for an add-on you want. There are countless add-ons, probably to meet any kind of desire you may have. Therefore, the important thing is to be able to categorize your desire for a certain ad-on to categories like"Appearance" and "Alarm" to find one to meets your needs.
2. My PLE can do many things due to add-ons such as the Google toolbar, Inline Google definitions, Pronounce, and Fox Gestures. the Google toolbar enables me to easily search by Google, and allows me to see candidates of research topics. It also highlights certain words on a page which makes it incredibly easier to search through many texts. The other add-ons give me definitions, pronunciations which helps me learn English as a second language. Fox Gestures enables my Fire Fox function by using short cuts using the mouse. Therefore, my PLE is even more convenient.
3. My PLE gives me a wider range of resources. It helps me search, allowing me to simply find more resources, and also helps me understand, allowing me to actually use the resources. It broadens my world.
4. I find it very facinating that the problem is no longer whether you know the environment(program) or not, but whether you can make a environment(program) suit you or not. It is new to me that with things like Fire Fox, it is easy to just type in the URL and surf on the web, but you can make full use of it and learn 10, or even 100 times more from the same thing. My PLE can evolve by simply learning more about my environment(digital age) today.

Lesson 1: Introduction to Social Networks
THINK
1.I knew the websites such as Facebook, Gmail, Wikipedia, and You tube.
I think social software is software that makes a random group of people interested in a certain topic able to search, share, or just take in information.
What makes a software social is how the software allows ideas to be shared with a group of people, any group of people, by acting as a bridge to connect people.
2. Network seems to be the connection between people.
Therefore, social network would be more social if it could connect people with more people, a more diverse group of people.
EXPLORE
1. I can not come up with a recent situation...
2. network of people, real world, hidden connections, social networking site, visualization
3. Three things that surprised me
a)”it is predicted in10 years the number one English speaking country will be china. “
Because China is still developing now, with many people in rural areas unable to get any kind of education, and because they have their own language, Chinese.
b) “there are as many as 5 times the words as there were in the English language than the time of Shakespeare.”
Because I knew that there are words no longer used in the English language from Shakespeare time, and this means that there are much much more words created than lost.
c) “the original version of this presentation was created by a high school staff.”
Because it is impressive how the school staff worked so hard, with the future of their students in their minds.
DO
Because social software is created by the social network, connecting uncountable numbers of people, I think there is huge potential in the social society today.
In order to use this sufficiently, I need to be able to tell what information is useful, and what is not.
I need to be able to critically think to use social software for learning.
